The Endura SingleTrack II helmet is hugely well ventilated, comfy and good value to boot. If you're looking for an inexpensive lid for hot days and don't mind foregoing a MIPS (or similar) liner, this could be right up your street.

The SingleTrack II is a remake of the rather oddly styled first edition. The new helmet comes with significant upgrades, including large air vents and an adjustable visor.

First up, those air intakes on the front are as large as they look, allowing a great deal of airflow. They make the SingleTrack II a great lid if you run hot or ride in high temperatures. The front five vents are covered by a mesh that's integrated with the liner to stop bugs entering too. 

There are large exhaust vents at the rear, and inside, channels running front to back through the EPS foam to move air through. The SingleTrack II is one of the lightest (281g in a size small) and coolest helmets I've ever worn. 

Elsewhere the helmet gets a three position adjustable visor so you can store goggles below the peak. I rode with the peak in the middle setting most of all, as the lowest one impinges on your view a little and the highest is so high it's simply for allowing goggle placement.

There's a moulded covering over all of the EPS foam, including the lower edge, to protect from bumps – helmets at this price usually skimp on this part. There's a breakaway accessory mount available too, though unfortunately it's not included.

The cradle winches up from just above the each ear and around the back of the head, rather than encircling the whole head. The rubber dial is easy to find and use, plus you can change the height of the cradle at the rear for optimal fit.

The SingleTrack II sizes up a little large. My head is 53cm, and with a size small – for heads between 51-56cm in diameter – I had to winch the cradle in as tight as it would go. 

The straps are easy to fit and adjust and don't come loose, so there are no complaints there. There's no MIPS liner – which you do get on the similarly priced Smith Convoy and  Giro Fixture – but this comes at the expense of an adjustable peak and a fully-wrapped EPS foam in these lids. 

The SingleTrack II is comfortable. The lining isn't thickly padded but it's comfy all the same, and the shape and fit of the cradle is good with no pressure spots. It's a functional, good looking helmet for hot heads that comes in at a very reasonable £75.
