OneUp offers improved compliance and more rise with its V2 carbon handlebars

As handlebars trend wider, riders needing mid-width options encounter a comfort paradox. Carbon-fibre handlebars engineered for an 800mm width can feel harsh if cut narrower, because the inherent strength analysis done by engineers at the product origin is for the full-width leverage forces. And that means if you cut them narrower, they can ride harshly.

OneUp’s solution is to offer its new V2 handlebars with a re-engineered construction in two widths: 760- and 800mm. The narrower V2s feature a different oval shaping to the 800mm handlebars, creating the ideal balance of strength and comfort for a 760mm width handlebar.
Comfy yet strong
OneUp claims its entire V2 range is between 13- and 33% more vertically compliant than the V1 handlebars, depending on the width and rise combination you choose. That should mean reduced hand fatigue, wrist strain, and arm pump on those long, steep, challenging black and double black graded descents.
How did the OneUp team accomplish that gain in comfort? By optimising the vertical compliance that fibre orientation and layup can provide in a carbon handlebar, when proportionally engineered for a given width.
The gains in compliance and ride comfort haven’t sacrificed strength. OneUp’s 760- and 800mm V2 handlebars are Category-5 Gravity EFBE Tri-Test certified and graded for dual-crown forked DH bikes and e-bikes.
Based in British Columbia, OneUp’s product planning team has access to some of the world’s best downhill trails and riders. They know what makes a great descending handlebar. All that rider feedback has helped shape the ideal profile and rise choice for these new V2 handlebars.
Sizes and rises
Trail, all-mountain and enduro riders who prefer a narrower handlebar can choose from two rise options on the 760m V2: 20- or 35mm. These new OneUp handlebars feature geometry angles of 8-degrees backsweep and 5-degrees upsweep. The 20- and 35mm rise 760mm V2s weigh 220g and can be cut down to a safe minimum of 720mm.
If you are a wide-shouldered rider or need all the handlebar leverage to control the bike on those double black diamond descents, there are three versions of the 800mm V2. Riders can choose from a 20mm or 35mm rise – both at 235g.
The interesting new geometry option from OneUp is a 50mm rise 800mm V2. This handlebar targets riders who desire a higher front end to keep their weight more centred on those extremely steep descents. The 50mm rise 800mm V2 handlebar is great for tall riders who prefer a raised front and want better on-bike comfort, creating a more natural riding posture.
OneUp’s 50mm rise 800mm V2 handlebar weighs 265g, and can be cut to a minimum width of 740mm, if required.
The new OneUp V2 handlebars retail for $160.
