Xysto pedals are for chasing winning downhill Times

The French frame and pedal brand, known for making its own in-house braided carbon fibre weaving and unique ATAC clipless pedal design, has created a new pedal. It’s called the Xysto, and if you’re wondering about the etymology of that name, it’s Portuguese. Time’s pedals are assembled in Coimbra, Portugal, and Xysto is a stone type found in the mountains and trails surrounding the factory.

ATAC technical descents with confidence
Designed for hardcore trail, enduro and downhill riders, the Xysto pedals offer a large platform with adjustable traction pins and Time’s vaunted ATAC clipless system, integrated into the pedal structure. With its minimalist interface design, Time’s ATAC pedals are excellent at shedding mud and retaining the integrity of their cleating function in the worst trail conditions.
The Xystos measure 79 x 94mm. For riders who value all the trail feedback and ease of recleating after a terrain strike, that generously sized pedal platform will appeal. Time’s industrial designers shaped the Xysto’s asymmetrical form factor to work seamlessly with the natural shape of a rider’s sole.
Even with the integrated ATAC clipless interface, the Xystos have a pedal stack height of only 18.3mm and features five traction pins per side, in a three-fore and two-aft pattern.
Adjustments and cleat options
Float is one of the benefits that ardent TIME users list as their reason for using the French pedal design. The Xysto pedals build on the reputation of Time's ATAC cleating system, offering clipped-in micro-adjustments for 2.5mm of lateral movement and angular freedom of -5 to 5-degrees.
Cleat specification is 13- or 17-degrees of release angle, which is reversible, too. Prefer riding cleats that run tighter? TIME’s 10-degree release angle Easy cleats are compatible with the Xysto pedals.
Xysto pedals run on steel bearings and a 57mm spindle. Time claims a weight rating of 226g per pedal. These new Xysto pedals are priced at £195.00, and the only available colourway is dark grey.
