Continental bolsters its range with three new XC tyres

In 2022, Continental unveiled a new Gravity tyre range, which was received with great success. Now, the brand has overhauled its cross-country offering, bringing three new tyres into the mix to please both elite-level XC athletes and those who want to push their short-travel trail bikes harder.

Starting off with the Dubnital, it takes some clear inspiration from the outgoing Race King with its modified triangle tread pattern, and the brand says it's built for dry to damp conditions as well as rock, hardpack, and medium-loose terrain. It's available in two casings, Trail and Race, with the former donning a single-ply carcass whereas the latter is slated to be the lightest and fastest construction available.
There are two rubber compounds on offer, too, Grip and Rapid. Grip is set to balance grip and rolling resistance, and is better suited for those who seek all-around performance. Rapid is all about speed and acceleration and is inspired by rubbers used on Continental's road, race and gravel tyres.
This tyre is available in black and tan walls and in 29 x 2.2in, 29 x 2.4in and 27.5 alternatives.
The Trinotal is directed as the do-it-all, mega versatile tyre. It's for hard pack, light soils and mixed terrain in the dry or damp. This one takes the place of the Cross King. Like the Dubnital, it comes in the same compounds, carcasses and sizes, but there is also a 26-inch version on offer.
Lastly, the Magnotal is better suited for aggressive downcountry riding through to all-mountain over mixed and loose terrain, whether dry or wet. Continental also says it bridges the gap between its XC tyres and Gravity range. This one comes in the brand's Trail single-ply carcass, the Soft compound found on the Gravity tyres and a softer Grip casing. This tyre comes in 29-inch and 27.5-inch sizes with 2.4- and 2.6in width options.
